Open call for 8 young people from Italy to join the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange"Slow City, Green Energy, Sustainable Living" which will be hosted by "Sığacık Cittaslow Sociology Society" in Izmir, Turkiye from 20-27th of May 2024. This project is co-funded by Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.

About the project

"Slow City, Green Energy, Sustainable Living" is a one week youth exchange project for young people from Italy, Poland, Hungary, Portugal and Turkiye. The special Purposes of Our Project are:

- To learn about the concept of socialization,
- Gaining awareness about the phenomenon of individuation,
-To reveal the equivalent of these concepts in their daily lives, to develop their social aspects, and to adapt to social issues,
- To learn about the concept of Cittaslow,
- Developing awareness by establishing a connection between the concept of Cittaslow and socialization,
- To apply the knowledge and experience gained in the project in their daily lives.


Project Goals

- To support their cultural development by coming together with people from different cultures,
 
- To develop language skills by communicating in English throughout the project,

-To acquire communication competencies, to acquire social and cultural competencies,

-To take part in social dialogue processes by communicating with institutions,

-To raise awareness about global issues,

-To gain awareness on issues such as evaluation, analysis, discussion, idea generation, etc., developing creative thinking competence,

-To get rid of prejudices and gain awareness of combating discriminatory attitudes.

Eligibility
 
- You are Italian or a legal resident in Italy.
 
- Aged between 18 - 30 years, There is No age limit for Team leader.
 
- Have a good Command of English Language.
 
- Able to work in a team, responsible, flexible and motivated by this project.

- Able to attend the full duration of the project.
 
 
Project Countries
 
Italy, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, and Turkiye

The total number of participants will be 40 (8 participants from each country).
 

Finance and Benefits
 
- Travel Expenses will be reimbursed up to 320 EUR for participants from Italy.
 
- Host organization will reimburse the travel expenses by bank transfer to group leader accounts after the exchange.

- You will be accommodated at Hotel in shared rooms in 2/3 starts hotel with another participants (Same Gender).

- You will get 3 meals and 2 coffee break per day.

- Project Materials will be provided by host organization.
 
 
What to Bring?
 
- All the participants coming from the EU should bring their European Health Card. They can use the free European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to allow cover private health care, non- emergency health costs, or being flown back to your home country. 
 
- Your Passport / National ID / Valid residence permit card
 
- National / traditional food, drinks, clothes, music or other things of your country you would like to present/ show for intercultural evenings
 
- Music, games, photos and other are also welcome
 
- Some sport / casual clothes as well, as You can
 
- Positive energy and open-minded attitude

Extra Days
 
Participants can spend in in total 2 extra days on their own costs in the country before the project starts and/or after the project. If you stay over 2 days, then we cannot reimburse to you your tickets at all.
 
 
How to get to the izmir city center?
 
Izmir, Turkey, is primarily served by Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB), located about 18 kilometers south of the city center. This airport operates domestic and international flights, providing convenient access to Izmir for travelers from various destinations around the world.

For those arriving by bus, Izmir has two major bus terminals: Izmir Intercity Bus Terminal (İzmir Şehirlerarası Otobüs Terminali) and Bornova Bus Terminal (Bornova Otogar). These terminals offer extensive bus services connecting Izmir to other cities and regions within Turkey, as well as international destinations.

As for train travel, although Izmir does not have a central train station, it is connected to the Turkish rail network through Basmane Railway Station (Basmane Tren Ä°stasyonu). Located in the heart of Izmir, Basmane Station serves as a major transportation hub, offering domestic train services to various destinations across Turkey.

Travelers arriving from other cities or countries can easily reach Izmir city center from Adnan Menderes Airport, the bus terminals, or Basmane Railway Station using various transportation options such as taxis, shuttles, buses, or trains, ensuring a convenient and hassle-free journey to their destination in Izmir.

Rules and procedures
 
- All the participants will be expected to be present and active in all the activities.

- Unauthorized absence from the activities and workshops won‘t be tolerated.

- Respect the common areas and leave them clean.

- Be on time every session.

- Respect the schedule.

- Don‘t disturb after midnight.

- Any lack of respect among participants and staff won't be tolerated.

- Stress, nerves and bad mood is prohibited everywhere. Bring your best mood and big smile with you and keep it through the Exchange! Prepare for fun!
